Overview

Sage Veradrix is an NPC in the MMORPG CABAL Online.

Background Story

Veradrix is a figure who rose through the ranks at an astonishing speed at a young age and was recently selected as the Eighth Sage, causing a great stir in Nevareth. However, Veradrix was actually an orphan girl born into humble circumstances.

Surviving in the harsh environment of Nevareth without parents or guardians is no easy task. Moreover, Veradrix suffered from a congenital illness and was at risk of dying from it. The person who secretly saved her at that time was Sage Aldebaran.

Aldebaran secretly rescued her when she was on the verge of death and sponsored her until she graduated from the Academy and reached adulthood. Aldebaran wanted to keep this a secret, but the clever Veradrix eventually discovered the truth. Upon learning that the person who had helped her was Sage Aldebaran, Veradrix decided to devote her life to serving and living in Sage Tower. Veradrix subsequently succeeded in rising to the upper echelons of Sage Tower.

Veradrix has a congenital illness and is living on borrowed time, yet she always smiles and remains positive despite suffering from a disease for which there is no special cure. However, beneath the surface, she is also determined to uncover the truth, believing that Sage Tower is hiding something related to ancient history.

Activities in In-Game Quests

Prologue

After visiting Desert Scream with the Ruins Investigators, she asked Dunhaik to recommend an outstanding trainee. Although her official mission was to support the Ruins Investigators' activities, she actually needed to secretly find a capable warrior and carry out an unofficial mission.

Once a sufficient number of members had gathered for the Ruins Investigators, Veradrix gave them instructions. One was to expand the investigation area, and the other was to immediately transport the excavated relics to Sage Tower in preparation for an attack by the Thief Guild.

When told that Sirius had to be found because of a relic discovered in Zone 2, Veradrix remembered that Sirius had last met the magic merchant Sullivan before leaving and told them to go meet him.

King's Consort and Guardian Knight

The Memorial Core collected by 'me' displayed the faces of Veradrix, Yuan, Rin, and Freed in sequence. They were the Guardian Knights of Light. Veradrix became confused upon learning that she herself was a Guardian Knight of Light who protected the King. Afterwards, together with 'my' group, she unsealed the Underground Bunker of Ice Mountain east of Bloody Ice and found the third Apocalypse Card.

Monster Clan's Provocation

When you tell Veradrix about Shooterburk’s report that a force exists behind the Mage Guild, Veradrix grasps the truth and is horrified. Veradrix deduces that the force controlling the Mage Guild is after the Absolute Soul Core and reveals its existence. The Absolute Soul Core is a top-secret matter even within the Sage Tower and is the source of the power that caused the Great Destruction a thousand years ago. Veradrix says that King's Star is likely to possess the seventh Piece of the Absolute Soul Core. The seventh Piece is stronger than the other Pieces, but if someone gathers two or more Pieces of the Absolute Soul Core, even the owner of the seventh Piece cannot recklessly oppose them. Therefore, the King must be found quickly.

The King disappears.

Veradrix asks the investigators to inform them about the existence of the Absolute Soul Core. Then Veradrix asks them to bring the Ruins Investigators’ activity report to deliver to Aldebaran.

When you receive the activity report from Bane and deliver it, Aldebaran says that he returned to the Sage Tower because of urgent business and laments that you just missed each other. Veradrix says that Aldebaran left a message for “me” and asks you to protect Nine, who is hiding in an old cabin in Bloody Ice.

Nine had recently graduated from the Academy with excellent grades and become the youngest Researcher at the Sage Tower, but is said to have suddenly stolen important information and fled.

Veradrix says that Veradrix trusts Nine and that Nine must be found and protected before the Sage Tower finds Nine. When Nine was found, Nine had been kidnapped by The Vampires. After rescuing Nine, Aike’s condition is fine, but Nine is in a dangerous state after being infected with vampire venom.

An antidote must be obtained to cure Nine. Yuan and Rin are each instructed to obtain an antidote from the Plant Clan and Undead Clan, respectively, while “I” am instructed to obtain one from the Mutant Clan in the desert.

When you bring the Armband Fragment found in the Mutant Clan’s medicine cabinet to Veradrix, Veradrix says that it was also found among the other Monster Clans.

It turned out that the armband had been torn from Silverwood. Veradrix suspects that Silverwood has been hunting the Monster Clans together with Patren and sends the completed armband to Sirius. Later, Veradrix is shocked to learn that Silverwood and Patren had been the Knight of Immorality and the King, respectively.

Dark Wizard Guild

Veradrix, whom you meet in Port Lux, tells you about recent events. Aldebaran has begun investigating inside the Sage Tower, while Veradrix has been assigned to investigate the Mage Guild. The Heresist has now reached as far as Port Lux and is said to be in contact with the Mage Guild. Veradrix is convinced that the Heresist is connected to Prometheus and wants to ask Tesky for help. When you bring back the Mage Guild’s scroll from Tesky, Veradrix says that Tesky seems to have taken a liking to “me”.

Veradrix organizes the Mage Guild scroll and discovers the location of their laboratory. The laboratory is near the lighthouse on the southern coast of Port Lux. While searching there for clues that could reveal the identity of the Mage Guild, Veradrix finds a wizard’s book and a bottle of blue liquid.

After the investigation, Veradrix discovers that Fort. Ruina is mentioned in the Mage Guild’s book and becomes convinced that there is an internal spy. Fort. Ruina was a secret location unknown to the public and known only to the upper levels of the Sage Tower. Veradrix infers that Prometheus’s spy is a high-ranking executive of the Sage Tower and is connected to the Wizard’s Tower, and is shocked to realize that the spy may even be someone they know.

In addition, the suspicious Bottle of Blue Liquid obtained from the Mage Guild Laboratory was made from a substance extracted from impurities produced when mining underground resources, and it could weaken the power of Plant Clan monsters. It was not something the wizards could create on their own, but an item that required the power of the Metal Clan.

After learning that the Mage Guild has joined forces with the Metal Clan to attack the Plant Clan, Veradrix remembers that the wizards were attacked by the Plant Clan in Green Despair in the past. It is revealed that the Mage Guild, the Heresist, and the Metal Clan are all in league with one another. Veradrix vows to protect Patren and execute Prometheus.

Burying the grief

Veradrix is shocked to hear that Aike has died and Patren has gone missing, but he first intends to stabilize the situation and recover Patren. According to Heil's analysis, Prometheus's Base was Fort. Ruina, where it had concealed its presence from the Sage Tower. Before going there, Sirius wants to confirm the report that contact with Aldebaran has been lost.

When you go to find Aldebaran on Sirius's instructions, Aldebaran is already dead after investigating a Prometheus spy hiding in the Sage Tower, and Veradrix receives you in his place. After introducing the Mystic Blade, Veradrix prepares Aldebaran's funeral and asks you to bury his remains on the coastal cliff at Port Lux.

With the bad news piling up—Sirius being attacked, Aldebaran and Aike dead, and Patren missing—Veradrix agrees that attacking Prometheus's Base is probably the best course of action for now. He also says that he will contact Sirius.

The Source of the Lord of Destruction

When you visit Veradrix, he says that monster clans are currently being attacked throughout Port Lux and Fort. Ruina, and that it seems the Lord of Destruction has been resurrected. He is shocked to learn from Silverwood that Dr. Faust and Saint Valentine are the same person, but insists that stopping Patren from going berserk before awakening as the Lord of Destruction is more important. He asks me to look for Patren in the Phantasmal Clan Lair in Fort. Ruina. However, Patren disappears, leaving behind only a single dagger, and Veradrix is confused, saying that it seems he failed to protect the King.

He says that Patren's Dagger will likely be useful in the future and that he will entrust its safekeeping to Sirius. He then tells me that Silverwood has escaped.

Kingslayer's Mission

Once Heil confirms that the ASC Controller is indeed in Undead Ground, he travels there with the group. Sirius says that Patren seems to have awakened as the Lord of Destruction and gone berserk, and mentions the possibility that he may already possess two or more Absolute Core Fragments. He says that if that is true, they must prepare a last resort.

That last resort is to kill the King. Each of the Six Stars was born with two missions, and the two who can oppose the King and break his power are Arionell and Yuan. Yuan's second mission is Kingslayer, while Arionell's second mission is Seal. Because it is unknown whether Patren will seal himself like Saint Valentine, the outcome cannot be guaranteed, which is why the Stars of Light have second missions.

When Arionell hears about the Seal, she sympathizes with Patren. Yuan, on the other hand, quickly accepts his mission. Fearing that Nevareth will turn into hell if he abandons his duty, he sets out to find the Kingslayer's Weapon. Veradrix says that Arionell's second mission is too harsh, but Veradrix's own mission is Sacrifice.

The group then decides that Rin and Freed will prepare the ASC Controller, the Mystic Blade will track Silverwood, and Veradrix and Arionell will prepare to Seal Patren. At that moment, Patren arrives.

Patren stole one piece from the Phantasmal Clan and gathered two pieces of the Core. However, feeling disillusioned with reality, he visits Veradrix and Arionell to have himself Sealed. While Arionell hesitates, Silverwood attacks to seize the piece. Veradrix saves Patren and sacrifices himself in his place. Patren disappears somewhere once again.

Veradrix is critically wounded after trying to stop Silverwood. Saying that he merely fulfilled his mission and is relieved that Patren is safe, Veradrix dies after leaving a final request to protect Nevareth. Sirius regrets having left only Arionell and Veradrix behind, but says that he will not let their deaths be in vain.
