His sudden disappearance in Pontus Ferrum throws his family into turmoil. When I found him, he had been rescued and was receiving treatment from Turner, but his condition was poor. Turner says that he will have difficulty making it through the night and that, should he die, he will return him to his family. Turner then wonders aloud whether the true age of darkness is beginning now. His death leaves Miles' family steeped in sorrow.
