Overview

Aldebaran is an NPC in the MMORPG CABAL Online.

Background Story

Aldebaran is one of the seven Sages of the Sage Tower. Although he is not as popular as Sirius, he is loved by the people. Aldebaran is an authority on ancient history and wanders anonymously throughout Nevareth to collect materials.

Aldebaran is always smiling, which makes him seem likable to people, though he can also appear absent-minded. However, he sometimes obtains and passes on surprising information before withdrawing and going into hiding. According to Veradrix, he is polite to people he does not like but acts familiarly toward those he favors. He has a deep connection with the Eighth Sage Veradrix, and some gossips say that the two would have become a well-matched couple if their status had not constrained them.

One day, Aldebaran returned to the Sage Tower after finishing a long period of wandering. People thought Aldebaran would soon leave again or take a short break from wandering, but they were mistaken. Aldebaran attended the Council of Sages, which he had been absent from, and began to get involved in the affairs of the continent. He also took on the role of general administrator of the Ruins Investigators.

Most people supported Aldebaran’s change, but not everyone did. Even among the Sages, the power-hungry Sages, Procyon and Capella, were uncomfortable with Aldebaran’s change and wary that he would expose their corruption. As a result, they tacitly allowed Prometheus to assassinate Aldebaran.

However, Aldebaran had already discovered the identity of Prometheus's spy who had infiltrated the Sage Tower. Just before his death, Aldebaran handed the information to Mystic Blade.

In-Game Quest History

Prologue

At Veradrix's request, he took on the role of general administrator of the Ruins Investigators. He introduces the other companions who will join 'me' from then on.

Afterward, when 'I' brought back the Shining Relic alone, Aldebaran speculated that it seemed to respond only to 'me.' Since even Aldebaran was not certain of the relic's identity, he suggested borrowing Sirius's wisdom. Sirius was believed to be dead, but was actually living in seclusion somewhere. Aldebaran asked 'me' to find Sirius.

Spread of Heresist

While the ruins investigation was underway, Heresist was spreading across the entire continent of Nevareth. Aldebaran asked ‘me’ to stop the investigation team’s activities and resolve the problems caused by Heresist.

The King Is Gone

When we meet again, they marvel that I have become much stronger than before. They discover that the Armband Fragment found among the Monster Clan was originally an entire armband.

When Patren is brought back, Aldebaran diagnoses Patren as suffering from severe guilt and explains the Sword of Guardians. The Sword of Guardians is the group that protects the King, including the Six Stars of Light. Even the members of the Ruins Investigators are all people born to fulfill the destiny of the Sword of Guardians. Sirius was the leader of the Sword of Guardians. Aldebaran believes that all that remains is to eliminate the organization of darkness.

Dark Wizard Guild

Aldebaran visits Veradrix after receiving an urgent message, saying that there is a story to tell. It was a shocking story. The Dark Clan is behind the Heresist faction, and the Mage Guild is using knowledge of the Force to encourage the mutation of monsters. They also joined forces with the Metal Clan to attack the Plant Clan. All of them are seeking pieces of the Absolute Soul Core and dream of the Great Destruction and rebuilding a new world. Aldebaran is concerned, saying that he cannot understand how they intend to control and withstand such tremendous power.

Burying the Sorrow

When you visit at Sirius's instruction, Aldebaran is found dead while investigating the interior of the Sage Tower. It is said that he liked the Port Lux Coastal Cliff during his lifetime, because the views of the sunrise and sunset were beautiful. His remains were also buried at that coastal cliff.
