Overview

Patren is an NPC in the MMORPG CABAL Online.

Background Story

Patren left his hometown after losing his parents in an unfortunate accident and becoming an orphan. However, traveling alone as a young boy was not easy in a world overrun by monsters.

Patren avoided danger several times by using a technique to divert monsters' attention for a short time. However, even this method had its limits. One day, Patren fell into danger and nearly died. Silverwood came forward and saved Patren. Since then, the two have traveled together, exploring ancient ruins.

He carries a Dagger and can read ancient writing after learning the ancient script from Silverwood. Except for wandering the world, Patren is no different from an ordinary child.

Activities in In-Game Quests

Prologue

Patren is found by Freed in Ruins Investigation Area 2. He appears shy when first introduced. He introduces himself as a traveler searching for the ruins of an ancient civilization. Freed considers him knowledgeable about ancient ruins and highly capable. They begin working together afterward.

The King Disappears

No sooner is it discovered that Patren is the King's Star than news arrives that Silverwood has taken Patren, who was with Freed, as if abducting him.

Yuan proposes that they split up to investigate the Monster Clans that have not yet been attacked, and instructs 'me' to investigate the Plant Clan northwest of Green Despair. Patren was indeed there. I rescue Patren after battling Silverwood. After being rescued, Patren says that he had been committing terrible acts because of Silverwood and thanks me for stopping him. While Patren was being held captive, Silverwood planned to defeat the Clan Master and collect all the Core Pieces, forcing Patren to follow him. Along the way, he found and killed members of the Sword of Guardians. Because of this, Patren felt guilty for being unable to stop Silverwood.

He was resting with Arionell, but when Silverwood attacked their lodging, Patren went berserk with tremendous power and disappeared. In the meantime, Aike died.

The Source of the Lord of Destruction

After hearing Veradrix’s words, you will meet Patren if you go to the Phantasmal Clan Lair near Fort. Ruina. Having recognized “me,” Patren says that he has changed horribly and does not have much time left. Seeming to feel that he has reached his limit in controlling his own power, he laments his fate and hands over his Dagger. Patren cries out that if he loses himself and goes berserk, you should use the Dagger to end him instead, then disappears.

Kingslayer

Patren stole one Piece from the Phantasmal Clan out of the seven Core Pieces and collected two Pieces. However, Patren became disillusioned with reality and went to find Veradrix and Arionell to Seal himself. While Arionell hesitated to perform the Seal, Silverwood attacked to seize the Piece. Veradrix saved Patren and sacrificed himself instead, and Patren disappeared somewhere once again.

Afterward, Patren is witnessed at The End of the Road of Death. Arionell says that the rampaging Patren is holding on without losing himself. To communicate, Arionell touches the Dagger he received from Patren to Patren’s heart and confronts Patren’s will.

Patren says that, despite suffering in his awakened state, he realized what mission Saint Valentine had left for him. Saint Valentine left a message in ASC for his descendants a thousand years later. Patren accepted that it was his mission to destroy the Absolute Soul Core and the ASC Controller hidden somewhere. Arionell is saddened that there is no way to help Patren.

Destroying the Source of Great Destruction

When you go to the Altar of Eternity, you will meet Patren again. Having reached the final stage of his awakening, Patren was barely suppressing the Lord of Destruction. Patren tells “me” and Arionell that he hopes they will not be saddened by such a fate, and asks Arionell, as the King’s consort, to carry out the Seal, his second mission. In the end, Arionell follows Patren’s request and performs the Seal, causing Patren to disappear into subspace. In the aftermath of Patren’s awakening as the Lord of Destruction, the continent enters a new era.
