Prometheus

Overview

Prometheus originated as a secret organization that existed during the Honorable Age. They had a supremacist attitude toward supernatural abilities and worked toward the birth of a new god and the conquest of the world. At one point, Prometheus brought forth the Child of Destiny who would fulfill their purpose, instilled in him an interest in supernatural abilities, and raised him to serve their objectives.

The Past

“More than 400 years have passed. Although it was an exceedingly tedious time, it was far too short to restore the forgotten powers, study how to open the door to another world where the sealed beings had disappeared, and find the Child of Destiny. Yet it was more than enough time for my brothers to fall one by one. Now there are only three of us left, including me. It is a miserable reality, but with the final undertaking before us, there will be no time to grieve, no—we should rightly rejoice. For the happiness of humanity that will be created from our blood, for our noble ideal that will become fertilizer for paradise……”

In the past, a powerful being known as “He” wanted to advance humanity. It is unknown for what purpose “He” sought to do so. “He” was simply obsessed with creating “more complete life forms, closer to perfection.” It is not even known whether “He” acted out of benevolence or malice.

“He” determined that immense power was necessary to become a perfect being. Long ago, He first bestowed the immense mental power He knew upon a certain race. The race that received this power called it "law法", and thereby gained immense power and brought the world under their rule. However, the 1st Civilization fell due to internal divisions.

Afterward, “He” bestowed upon the ancient East, for the second time, the mental maturity that took precedence over power法, namely dao道. But once again, He failed to establish a proper balance between the two. The second attempt failed as well because some desired immense power before mental maturity. The 2nd Civilization fell.

“He” believed that humanity was not yet ready to handle immense power. He decided to observe them over time for this purpose. “He” waited, hoping that humans would mature by developing for themselves the modest power they could control.

Meanwhile, although the 1st and 2nd Civilization were destroyed by “He,” some of their descendants survived. For a long time, the survivors devoted everything their clans possessed to recreating supernatural abilities while searching for the will of Transcendence. However, after countless attempts and failures, the survivors disappeared from the world one day, and heroes and miracles ceased to appear in history.

However, in truth, they had not perished but were operating in secret behind the 3rd Civilization.

Although the survivors had lost all their transcendent abilities, they retained their memories of them and an endless longing for them. They believed that a rightful successor had to appear for glory to be recreated, and that they had to return to the pure blood of the ancient heroes. They also vaguely realized that an unknown will to transcendence might lie behind the disappearance of all supernatural abilities. Thus, they ruled the 3rd Civilization from behind the shadows while developing “rational” thought. This was the beginning of the organization later known as Prometheus.

This action attracted “He”’s attention.

From “His” observations, humanity had made significant progress thanks to “rationality” and science, the power to think and develop independently. However, science began to bring about other harmful consequences. As “He” had intended, humanity began to understand the essence of things through its own development, but used even that solely for its own greed. Humanity began to blindly believe in "rationality" and sought to exploit everything. It even went so far as to exploit its own future for the sake of reality. It was drifting far from the stage of spiritually maturing by recognizing nature’s greatness and achieving harmony with it.

“He” began to worry. It was too late to declare humans failures and make a new attempt, as in the failed attempts before. Since humans existed everywhere on the surface, there was no other race to replace them. It seemed extremely remote for humans to recognize the greatness of nature. They had already become too deeply immersed in rationality. Thus, the will found a method.

If they had become believers in rationality, then rationality would lead them to enlightenment. The survivors of the preceding civilizations came into “His” view. “He” decided to use them.

At the time, the descendants of the 1st and 2nd Civilization were divided into two organizations, CRF and GoR, and were opposed to each other. CRF (The Chasers of Ruling Force) sought to rule humanity through people with exceptional abilities who could use Force, while GoR (The Guardians of the Repenters) sought to thwart CRF’s ambitions. The organization formed by their merger, Prometheus (=CRF+GoR), began working toward creating a perfect world in which rule from the shadows could be tolerated. They acted according to “His” instructions and received compensation, finally obtaining the ASC they had long desired.

Child of Destiny

“What if there were a small number of coordinators who remained hidden from the world and could control all of humanity’s enemies

What if humanity gained the military power to remain detached from wealth and power, and the ability for each person to reach a similar level in proportion to their efforts

What if, in controlling the enemies, the coordinator could restrain those among the happy who grew greedy, and have the good comfort the unfortunate

Prometheus gave birth to the child who would later be called Doctor Faust, Patron M.Faust. Prometheus was continuously involved in his life from birth through adulthood in order to make him the future "mediator" for building an ideal world, and even his parents and neighbors were all members of Prometheus. Faust was brainwashed with Prometheus's ideology, but he only learned this fact much later. Faust grew into a scientist according to Prometheus's plan, completed the unified field theory, and discovered the "Force." With this, Faust opened the door to the Honorable Age, the Age of Transcendent Civilization.

After judging that the time was ripe, Prometheus began advancing its plan. Prometheus destroyed several Transcendent Science research institutes around the world and issued a statement declaring that it would judge those who sought to wield the power of Transcendent Science for their own ambitions. It also urged Transcendent ability users to rise up against the government.

The great powers defined the incident as an act of terrorism, began a crackdown, and continued experiments to use Transcendent abilities for military purposes. In response, Prometheus continued destroying Transcendent Science research institutes and made its name known to the world.

Prometheus exposed the human experiments conducted by governments around the world, and in the process, the various Academies rose up and clashed with the military. Large-scale bloodshed broke out across the world, leading to a state of anarchy called Nightmare Night. In addition, the Great Destruction occurred when Faust went berserk.

Great Destruction

The part of Prometheus's Purification Plan that called for removing all "recessive factors" from history, knowledge, culture, and even humanity itself brought Faust and Prometheus into conflict.

As Faust gradually awakened to the power of ASC, Prometheus became anxious when he grew difficult to control and intensified the brainwashing intended to control him. However, when the brainwashing exceeded its limits and Faust's ego entered an abnormal state, ASC's defense mechanism activated and began to run amok. Even Prometheus had not anticipated this.

ASC ran amok for seven days and seven nights. As a result, abnormal conditions, tidal waves, earthquakes, and volcanic activity occurred across the planet, while unidentified monsters appeared and killed people.

Prometheus first moved its core forces and resources to a safe place, acknowledged that it had underestimated the power of ASC passed down from its predecessors, and revised its plan. They made a coldly rational judgment.

Whatever form it took, destruction was underway and the population was going to decrease drastically, so they concluded that this was the optimal opportunity to remove the various remaining "recessive factors" other than humanity.

Prometheus mobilized all its forces to gather the surviving humans in a safe place, and discarded everything it deemed unnecessary in the process.

However, even this did not proceed smoothly. Contrary to Prometheus's intentions, Faust sealed himself away, causing their plan to suffer a setback. The cornerstone needed to build the new world after the Purification had disappeared.

Prometheus hastily revised its plan once again and attempted to use Faust's seven disciples to act according to its purposes. At the same time, to achieve its objective effectively, it infiltrated Nevareth society and attempted to become its core. As they had in past civilizations, they focused on securing financial and military power.

Moreover, they had to keep the six Clans raiding the settlements in check. For the survival of humanity, Prometheus decided to create an owner of ASC, judging that the monsters could be controlled only by resurrecting the Lord of Destruction.

That was the Patron.

ASC requires authorization to use, but Prometheus did not have such authorization. Instead, they prepared a clone of Faust that retained the seventh Piece, using the genes of Faust, its most recent owner.

Prometheus knew that the seventh Piece was the most powerful among the other Pieces and began devising and carrying out a plan to have the clone that had absorbed it dominate the monsters.

Prometheus will fight the six clans over the seventh Piece and will fight the Seven Sage from behind the scenes. It is still unknown who will emerge as the final victor.
