The 8th Sage Veradrix visits Desert Scream with the Ruins Investigators. Veradrix is the highest-ranking person in Sage Tower, excluding the 7 Sages. Although physically weak, Veradrix was appointed the 8th Sage due to exceptional ability. When Veradrix asked Dunhaik to recommend an outstanding trainee, Dunhaik apparently recommended “me”.
Veradrix introduces Blader Yuan, and they exchange greetings. Yuan is very brusque. Veradrix explains the real reason he called the two of them. Officially, it is to support the Ruins Investigators, but in reality, they have a mission that requires them to operate unofficially.
We meet Aldebaran at the Ruins Investigators' camp. Aldebaran is known as the Wandering Sage. This nickname was given to him because he wanders from place to place rather than remaining in Sage Tower. After the introductions, Aldebaran introduces his other companions: Expedition Leader Bane, Freed, Aike, Arionell, and others.
Bane is a researcher affiliated with the Sage Tower. Freed is a former treasure hunter and a friend of Bane's son. He joined the expedition at Bane's persuasion. Arionell comes from the prestigious Cruise Family of Force Magic and has a clumsy personality. It is said that Aldebaran recruited her after she accidentally summoned an ancient, powerful summon while using magic. Aike is said to have joined because he wanted to be recognized as an administrator of the Sage Tower. He is currently dealing with all of Arionell's messes.
Aldebaran takes a liking to me and asks me to receive instructions from Veradrix and deliver them to Bane. Two instructions have come from the Sage Tower. One is to expand the area under investigation, and the other is to immediately transport artifacts excavated because of the Thief Guild to the Sage Tower. The Thief Guild has recently been committing all kinds of evil deeds. However, Bane reacts strangely when told that the Thief Guild is causing trouble.
Bane makes a secret request. He says that he knows the Thief Guild's Master Rin well and that she is not the kind of person who would do such a thing. In fact, Rin was Bane's first love. Bane asks me to find out what happened within the Thief Guild. When I go to the place Bane told me about, I meet an injured Rin. When I mention Bane's name, Rin remembers him.
When asked about the Thief Guild's recent activities on the continent, Rin explains what happened, saying that she would never order such despicable acts. Rin originally operated as a chivalrous thief. However, when her subordinate Kashu staged a coup, Rin was expelled from the Thief Guild. Rin vows revenge against Kashu and loses consciousness. When Rin is rescued, Bane expresses his gratitude.
Suddenly, a message arrives from the Nevareth Port Express. I head to Green Despair after receiving a summons from Nadler. Nadler says that Aike summoned me. When I return to the ruins investigation camp, Aike asks for help. He says that Arionell and Freed have not returned from the area even though it is past the time they were due back. Aike goes to look for Arionell, while I go to look for Freed.
I find Freed in Area 2. Freed introduces me to the people he met at the ruins. They are a young boy and a young man. The two introduce themselves as Patren and Silverwood and say that they are traveling in search of the ruins of an ancient civilization. Because they are knowledgeable about ancient ruins and highly capable, Freed plans to recommend them as members of the expedition. Meanwhile, Freed had forgotten to pass on a message.
While investigating Area 2, they discovered a shining relic deep inside, but even the three of them working together could not move it. They say they are too exhausted to go inside and ask me to retrieve it instead. When I enter the inner part of the ruins, I find an artifact that is indeed emitting light. When I touch it, the light disappears and a card appears.
When I return to the ruins investigation camp, Freed welcomes me. He says the others scolded him for leaving them alone. He suggests reporting the Shining Card to Aldebaran. Aldebaran says the card seemed to react only to me and that he does not know what it is either. He says that understanding it will require the wisdom of the vanished former Sage Sirius.
Sirius specifically refers to the former Sage Sirius. The former Sage passed on his position and suddenly disappeared one day. No one knows where he went. Aldebaran says that my special power might lead me to Sirius and tells me to trust it. Aldebaran recommends Veradrix as someone who may know Sirius's whereabouts.
Veradrix asks whether I am looking for Sirius because of the artifact. He says that Sirius is important to Veradrix as well. Before Sirius left, he met Sullivan, a magic merchant in Desert Scream. Sullivan admits that he met Sirius, but says they did not discuss anything special; he only had the impression that Sirius was looking for something. Sullivan recommends meeting Cox, who spoke with Sirius before him.
Cox says that Sirius came secretly and sent a message to the Eileen siblings through the Port Service. Eileen remembered the letter she had received. Sirius had originally looked after the Eileen siblings, but sent the letter saying that he had to leave because of some business. He also left a means of contacting him for use in an emergency. Eileen says she left it in the warehouse and will look for it and let me know.
A message is delivered through Deighton, the general goods merchant. It says that Captain Mark, an eccentric old man living in seclusion in Bloody Ice, is the vanished former Sage Sirius, and that no one has noticed. Sirius's exact location is said to be inside the furnace in Bloody Ice's mine. I find a record that did not melt in the mine.
When I arrive, Sirius deduces that I came through the Eileen siblings. He asks why I came, saying that he does not think the siblings would have revealed his location to just anyone. When I tell him that Aldebaran sent me, Sirius says that he has lived under a false identity but has always worried about them. After taking some time to gather his thoughts, Sirius tells me something important.
A thousand years ago, an event occurred in which every civilization was destroyed by shifts in the Earth's crust and tidal waves. This event is called the Great Destruction. The people living on the continent of Nevareth were descendants of the survivors. However, according to prophecy, the Great Destruction will occur again a thousand years later. The seven stars, including the King's Star, are what will prevent it. “If the King's Star possesses the power of darkness, the Six Dark Stars will regain their light and create a world of darkness; conversely, if it possesses the power of light, the Six Stars of Light will join forces and save the world.” The remaining six Stars of Light, excluding the King's Star, consist of the King's Consort, four Guardian Knights, and the Warrior's Star that will lead them. It is said that only after the Warrior's Star rises will the king meet the consort and stand against the Six Dark Stars.
However, the card I originally brought could not have its seal unlocked by just anyone. It is the Sage's legacy, a sealed card of the Apocalypse capable of awakening the Six Stars of Light. In other words, since I brought it, I am the sixth Warrior's Star and the person foretold by the prophecy. The fate of the world now rests in my hands.
Sirius says that the strange signs occurring on the continent of Nevareth may herald the awakening of the Six Dark Stars or the beginning of the Great Destruction. We must decipher the card's symbols and find the remaining four Guardian Knights and the King's Consort. I realized why I was born into this world and what I must do from now on, and I decided to follow my destiny.
