Overview
Morrison is an NPC in the MMORPG CABAL Online. He can be found in Port Lux.
Background Story
Morrison is one of the most experienced and long-serving veterans among the bureaucrats working at Sage Tower. So when Sage Tower was recruiting personnel to dispatch to Port Lux, Morrison thought it would be a suitable place for him to retire. However, once he arrived on site, he found that Port Lux was more dangerous than anywhere else in Nevareth. Morrison realized that his retirement had been postponed and would not come easily.
Morrison's Activities in In-Game Quests
Dark Wizard Guild
He praises you, saying that he has already heard a great deal about you from the continent's Officers, and tells you to meet Sage Veradrix. Morrison is worried that Veradrix may damage his health by searching for something without even sleeping.
Prologue
Morrison says that the incidents occurring across the continent have caused turmoil everywhere. Quite a large group of travelers also entered Port Lux, but all of them are missing. In addition, Sage Tower has reportedly sent Morrison no fewer than two messages.
Morrison explains the Sages who sent him messages. There are Sage Procyon of the Huan Continent, Sage Capella of the Pastur Continent, and Sage Pollux of the Midreth Continent, and Morrison considers Procyon and Capella to be the real powers. The two of them are gathering people from Nevareth who will support them. Morrison is concerned that this will lead to conflict, but emphasizes the importance of having somewhere to rely on.
Inquire About the Sadness
He expresses his condolences upon hearing that Aldebaran has died. He tells you that Veradrix is preparing Aldebaran's funeral.
Ominous Signs of War
He mentions the atmosphere at Sage Tower and reports that Procyon of the Huan Continent and Capella of the Pastur Continent have declared independence. The Sages who declared independence urged the warriors to choose justice. Morrison is confused by this. Although the Sages have protected world peace until now and are unlikely to wage a reckless war, he is worried that they are acting as politicians. Morrison asks you to deliver the official document he received to Black Bard. He laments that Sage Tower must now be finished as well.
Normal Quests
Morrison is deeply concerned about the Lighthouse, which often breaks down. Without the Lighthouse, ships entering Port Lux would inevitably lose their way. Morrison asks for repairs while handing over the Power Supply that can repair the Lighthouse. Once the Power Supply was activated, the Lighthouse was restored, and incidents of ships drifting decreased.
Morrison says that a strange smell has suddenly appeared in Colony Bujon recently. The culprit was none other than Ghouls. The Ghouls, which began appearing several days ago, are spreading foul odors and germs near Colony. If this continues, disease is on the verge of spreading throughout Port Lux. When the Ghouls are defeated, Morrison is pleased that the foul odors and germs have diminished, at least somewhat, thanks to you.
Morrison recommends meeting Officer Shooterburk, who is staying in Green Despair. Shooterburk asks whether you know that a Warp Gate was discovered in an area where the Moscutter Queen appears. That Warp Gate had existed since before Green Despair came into being. The problem was that no one knew where it led.
It was recently discovered how to obtain access to that Warp Gate. They say that possessing a piece of a certain map that occasionally appears in Undead Ground allows you to use the Warp Gate. That Warp Gate was connected to the Engreef Mountains on the Huan Continent.
There is a strange lake in the center of the Engreef Mountains, and people named it Lake in Dusk, in other words, the lake touched by twilight. There are many records associated with Lake in Dusk, but there was no way to determine whether it actually existed or how to get there. Then, thanks to the discovery of a Warp Gate in Green Despair, a way to prove the records emerged. Shooterburk says that he found records left over from the Honorable Age.
Some claim that Red Jungle is connected all the way to the Huan Continent, while others claim that spirits dwelling in the lake stain the World Tree Forest, located on the Pastur Continent, red.
The spirits dwelling in Lake in Dusk are said to be monsters representing the Phantasmal Clan. They bewitch people with their beautiful appearance and kill them. Lake in Dusk was originally a lake where the sun never set, but darkness is said to have arrived after someone whom the spirits trusted and followed disappeared. From then on, the number of monsters increased and the lake was damaged. The spirits took refuge in the tower at the center of the lake and brought in other external forces to protect themselves. Thus, the tower became a hazardous facility. Having waited for someone for a long time, they seized approaching life forms and checked them. They immediately killed anyone found not to be the person they were waiting for.' Shooterburk clicks his tongue, saying that they are savage creatures unlike what the name spirits suggests. Shooterburk says that this incident has revitalized research into Lake in Dusk and warns that Lake in Dusk is a hazardous facility despite its beautiful name.
When unusual signs began to appear in the lava zone one day, Morrison guessed that the Great Destruction he had heard about only through rumors had begun. If things went wrong, all of Port Lux could be buried by a volcano. Morrison asks you to investigate the terrain and hands you an exploration device. The investigation revealed that the strata had cracked. If the cracks continued to spread, Port Lux was in danger of being consumed by lava.
When suspicious groups began coming and going from the temple located in the Stone Golem habitat, Morrison asked you to investigate the area around the temple. At first, there was no sign of anything, but soon, old clothes and traces of fires were discovered. Morrison suspects that the Heresists who had secretly been active in Port Lux were responsible.
Morrison claims that power is not everything to a warrior and that honor is important. In other words, what matters is the pride felt as someone who inherited the Force and the dignity learned as someone who follows the code. He then says to consult him if you want to increase your honor or restore your tarnished honor.
Morrison teaches you about Fort. Ruina. Fort. Ruina is a place outsiders cannot enter freely and was, in fact, a special hazardous area designated by the Sage Tower. In particular, Fort. Ruina is filled with dangerous mechanical monsters. As the situation became increasingly serious, the residents of Fort. Ruina eventually requested outside assistance. Morrison explains that the area is dangerous because unimaginable scientific technology remains throughout Fort. Ruina. Morrison also seems to want to provide only weapons instead of sending guards. To resolve the situation, Morrison intends to entrust the Magnetic Device to Ibenc, a guard of Fort. Ruina. It was a high-performance device capable of changing how mechanical monsters moved, even if only temporarily. After receiving the Magnetic Device, Ibenc laughs and says that he will use it to eliminate the mechanical monsters. Ibenc had apparently despaired, believing that Fort. Ruina had been completely abandoned by the Sage Tower.
As everyone knows, Port Lux is a volcanic island where volcanic rock is common. However, one day, volcanic rock unreported by the academic community began to be discovered. The volcanic rock looked red and transparent, but it did not seem to originate from lava. Even the researchers dispatched by the Sage Tower have been unable to determine its properties. Morrison explains that the volcanic rock came from a passage near the coast overrun by Dark Blader and tells you that Port Lux was originally a place of exile. As outsiders began entering Port Lux, which had been designated a Special Combat Colony, the original inhabitants disappeared without a trace. It was strange that they had disappeared from an island surrounded by sea on all sides, with no means of migrating elsewhere.
However, one of the people who had disappeared reappeared in Port Lux one day. Although he had hidden himself for a long time, he had not aged, and the objects he used were completely different. He also knew the identity of the red volcanic rock the researchers were investigating. It was an object called the Seal of the Darkness. He revealed where the Seal of the Darkness appeared, and Port Lux decided to send an expedition there.
However, the expedition encountered terrible things there. The expedition was wiped out, and the survivors testified that a Beast of Hell had lived there. The survivors themselves did not live long either. They suddenly aged and eventually died without lasting even three days.
Port Lux concluded that someone had built a sturdy fortress beneath the volcano and imprisoned a monster that no one had witnessed since the Honorable Age. Morrison says that everything related to the place is a mystery and that it has not yet been properly explored. Morrison encourages you to go there if you become interested and hands you the Seal of the Darkness.
Morrison is delighted that the Allied Nations' official notice has finally been delivered. When the Sage Tower was maintaining its position, Port Lux had almost no trainees officially assigned to it, so it was almost always excluded from official events. But now, its existence had effectively been recognized. Morrison instructs you to enter Volcanic Citadel and deal with the Dark Priest, saying that opportunities like this do not come every day. When you return after completing the mission, Morrison pays the promised reward, saying that he is pleased to see the warriors growing.
As he grows older, Morrison says he feels his emotions drying up and has taken up writing poetry as a hobby. However, he asks you to bring him real specimens so he can write poems modeled after the Cockatrice of Forgotten Ruin, his true self, and the Dark Phalanx of Volcanic Citadel. Even then, he says he lacks the inspiration to complete his poems and asks you to capture 2nd Gryphon Corps Kendril as a real specimen and bring it to him.
Morrison says that the monsters of Mutant Forest were not originally mutants. He believes a strange jewel is the cause. To study the mutated creatures of Mutant Forest, he asks you to defeat Parasitic Ogre and Lumberjack and find the cause of the mutation. However, when he receives the specimens, he is disappointed because they are so ordinary.
It seems his foot odor is quite severe. Wearing combat boots every day causes his feet to sweat, so it cannot be helped. He asks you to bring him the powder sprinkled by Umpra in Altar of Siena, saying that it is good for removing odors. Even so, he asks you to keep it a secret because his dignity is at stake.
Morrison suddenly recalls a story from long ago. There are still many unidentified monsters among the Dark Clan creatures, and he says that even Orc and Gnoll are no more than low-ranking members of the Dark Clan. Morrison says that a book he read long ago described high-ranking Dark Clan monsters as skilled in magic and more intelligent than humans. As a result, rumors even circulated that the Dark Clan came from another dimension. Morrison also says that, while adventuring through Nevareth long ago, he accidentally entered Porta Inferno and barely escaped. After that, while waiting for the day when another warrior would conquer Porta Inferno, Morrison built a passage connecting the Port Lux Warp Center to Porta Inferno. He tells of a superstition that placing eggs of Servant Gargoyle collected while hunting into a brazier at the entrance will earn you a god’s blessing.
Morrison teaches you about a monster called G'ni of Rage and Fire. G'ni is a dangerous monster, befitting its epithets of rage and fire. Morrison happened to hear a theory that G'ni was once a god of fire. When G'ni's only daughter was killed by a warrior who was obsessed with treasure, G'ni became consumed by rage and a desire for revenge and began attacking humans indiscriminately. Morrison warns that although G'ni's story is tragic, its true nature is that of a monster. Many people have died trying to capture G'ni, and Morrison advises that a true warrior does not allow emotions to sway them easily.
Morrison is extremely on edge because of the information he received. One day, two male travelers who identified themselves as wandering travelers from Nevareth reported an island they had discovered. They said that a unique magnetic field surrounded the island, so no one noticed that it even existed. The wanderers were also able to enter thanks to a green mineral that had washed ashore. In other words, the green mineral acted as a Compass. However, if the mineral content was insufficient, the Compass could not serve its purpose, and if the exposed mineral returned to the island, its magnetism disappeared. One day, Researcher Heil was the person who solved the mineral problem. Morrison says Heil is someone who gives him a headache when he encounters him but makes him curious when he cannot see him, and that a sufficient Compass can be made even with a small amount of mineral. The problem was that Heil had scattered the Compasses he made throughout Nevareth. According to the investigation by the first expedition, the island was inhabited by the Mutant Clan, and because it was so dangerous, Port Lux named it Forbidden Island.
